To start the year, how about a pianothon?

All my blogs in January on ITYWLTMT and PTB on TalkClassical will discuss pianists, and feature solo and concertante works showcasing the piano.

The first wave of blogs are part of my continuing blog-othon “Pierre’s Twelve Days ofBlogging” on TalkClassical. The blogs will group YouTube playlists dedicated to piano legends Vladimir Horowitz, Sergei Rachmaninov and Clifford Curzon. 

This will be followed by a series of Friday podcasts with pairs of piano concertos played by some of my favourite pianists: Radu Lupu, Glenn Gould, Alain Lefevre and Geza Anda.

On PTB (in addition to the features already discussed), three Tuesday blogs/Mardi en Musique posts featuring the Piano Society’s Neal O’Doan, Montreal-born pianist and composer André Mathieu and a TDMH post commemorating the concert held in January 16th 1910 uniting two major historic figures: Sergei Rachmaninov and Gustav Mahler. 

I also plan to feature lots of piano selections on January’s Chronique du disque.

I even have a musing or two planned for the new site OperaLively on piano transcriptions and works inspired by opera from Liszt and Thalberg.

It all starts January 2^nd!

Je propose de commencer l’année du bon pied, avec un pianothon.

Tous mes billets ici sur ITYWLTMT et mes Quinze que j’en pense sur MQCD Musique Classique présenteront des œuvres solo ou concertantes pour le piano.

Nos Mardi en Musique se pencheront sur trois pianistes: Vladimir Horowitz, Neal O’Doan (de la Piano Society), le pianiste et composteur montréalais André Mathieu et un éphéméride musical pour le 16 janvier 1910, date d’un concert historique réunissant Sergei Rachmaninoff and Gustav Mahler.  

Il n’y aura que du piano pour la Chronique du disque de janvier.

Tant qu’à nos montages du vendredi, ils mettront en relief quelques uns de mes pianists preferés: Radu Lupu, Glenn Gould, Alain Lefevre et Geza Anda.

Sur MQCD, une écoute comparée de versions du troisième concerto de Rachmaninoff, et un portrait de Rachmaninoff pianiste de concert.

Tout se met en branle le 3 janvier.
